SJ8000 “real” 4k action camera

SJ8000 Ultra High Definition sports camera

First off all I checked SJCam’s websites for this SJ8000 camera and I didn’t find it there. It seams that this SJ8000 is not a genuine SJCam product.

The package of the camera includes many mounting accessories that makes it just perfect for sports activities. I counted around 20 accessories including a waterproof case.

What makes this Soocoo SJ8000 camera interesting over the SJ7000 cam is the 4K ultra high video resolution. Unfortunately, on 4096 x 2160 UHD resolution the maximum frame rate is only 24. For those who want to make slow motion videos, the camera allows 60fps at full HD (1080P).

    Hi,
I’m not an expert please tell me is there any difference between SJ8000 and SJ9000?
    Thanks,
    Vincent

Vincent. The SJ9000 has the Sony IMX078 image sensor (20fps) while the SJ8000 uses the Sony IMX117 sensor (35fps) and the firmware is not compatible.

*SooCoo C30 V1.0 and Ele Explorer Elite similar to SJ9000
*SooCoo C30 V2.0 and Ele Explorer Pro similar SJ8000

      Poor quality 🙁
      I purchased a sj8000 about 1 year ago for $ 150 and I just struggling with it ever since….
My Samsung phone has better videos, pictures as doing it …
Forget it and a buy GOPRO hero3 or Sony camera

Just got my SJ8000, at 1080p works great! but at 4k it needs more light.
There is somewhere a newer firmware?

It is not a genuine SJCam product! So probably you will not have firmware updates or customer support for this camera.

Please provide video bitrate info for each res and cam. It’s very important. I’m specifically interested in sj8000 cam.
    Thanks!

Planning to buy the sj8000. Do you have an GoPro camera to compare it with?
    Thanks

Most of these cameras are NOT real 4K. 4K means 4096×2160 and some are 3840×2160 (but that is cool as the later is 16:9 as oppose to the real 4K which is 17:9 but many of these cameras (including the SJ8000 and SJ9000) are a weird 2880×2160 with rectangular pixels (so the aspect ration is 16:9).
So they are Ultra Fake 4K. The reviewer has beaver touch the camera and is going by the paper specs.

Sj8000 can’t use wifi in photo mode, only video mode does

I have recently bought an SJ8000 4K Wifi camera from Aliexpress. Is it possitble to update the software – and how? I think the audio is bad, so I plan to make videos simultaneously with another camcorder from Sony with 5.1 system and mix the audio from the latter with the video from the SJ8000. Do you have any comments to the built in microphone in these cameras. In some GoPro cameras, you can use external mic in stereo, but is this possible in the SJ- cameras?
