Ricoh WG-M2 4K sports camera

Ricoh WG-M2 widest UHD action camera

My first product from Ricoh was a CD-writer long long time ago. At that time I wouldn’t have thought they will produce action cameras also. This Ricoh WG-M2 has a very interesting design being “natively” waterproof without any additional accessories.

Looking on the images with the camera I have the impression it is more robust compared to other sports cameras.

This new upgraded Ricoh camera comes not just with 4K video resolution but is also smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the WG-M1.

In the front of the camera there is an ultra-wide lens (204°) which allows to capture a very large field of view without missing one single detail.

Besides the UHD [email protected] fps video format, the Ricoh WG-M2 camera supports to capture Full HD videos (1080p with up to 60 fps) and high speed [email protected] fps videos. In my opinion, with 100 Mbps ultra-high bit rates (at 3840 x [email protected] fps)  the video quality must be damn good.

While this camera is mainly designed for recording videos in any situations and almost any whether conditions the WG-M2 is also capable to take 8MP (3264 x 2448) stills in single-shot or in burst with up to 8 fps.

On the bottom part of the camera there is a 1/4″ tripod screw hole which allows you to mount the camera on a selfie stick. I’m curious whether the manufacturer is planning to provide a suitable handheld brushless gimbal for the WG-M2 camera.

This camera will be available in both colors (orange and silver) for about $300 on B&H website. BTW, in the package you will find, besides the camera, two lens protectors, one for regular usage and one for underwater usage.
